The official name of Kinkakuji is Rokuonji, and it is called Kinkakuji because the inside and outside of the building are covered in gold leaf.

It is the oldest building in Kyoto Prefecture, and the murals inside are said to be the source of Japanese esoteric Buddhist paintings.

A gissha is a cart pulled by an ox or water buffalo. It has been used mainly by the aristocracy since the Heian period, and is used by people of high status.

In the Edo period, these were the samurai of the Ako domain who fought to avenge their lord.
